Curriculum Vitae – Bart THOMAS

Bart Thomas ‘ Curriculum Vitae reflects a lifelong passion for art and sculpture

My work in sculpture is a continuous exploration of form and expression. Starting with stone and bronze, my focus has shifted since 2020 to mixed media, where I experiment with various shapes and structures. Over the years, I’ve developed my own methodology, creating metal base structures covered with a unique sculpting paste. This process allows me to blend texture and form in ways that are both innovative and expressive.

I am fascinated by the unspoken language of shapes, and I strive to refine this visual dialogue, exploring how forces and tensions can exist in balance and imbalance. My work is characterized by stretched lines of force and nervous edges, creating dynamic compositions that evoke both energy and contemplation.

Having trained as an engineer, I bring a scientific mindset to my artistic practice. This background informs my approach, allowing me to infuse my sculptures with a sense of precision and thoughtful structure, while still embracing the freedom of artistic expression. My work reflects a combination of technical skill and creative intuition, where intellect and emotion meet to create something intelligent and meaningful.

As my journey continues I seek to explore new possibilities and deepen my understanding of the language of shapes.
